Hyperpigmentation / Dark Spots
Hyperpigmentation occurs when your skin produces more melanin than normal, causing dark spots on the skin. There are different types of hyperpigmentation, such as age spots, freckles, sun spots, liver spots and pregnancy mask, as well as several procedures and treatments to reduce or eliminate the dark patches.
Body areas like arms, face and hands are commonly the most affected by hyperpigmentation, as they receive a bigger amount of sunlight.
Hyperpigmentation can be caused by
- Sun exposure
- Genetic heritage
- Hormonal imbalances
Most people start to take care of their skin when they start to see the dark spots, then in reality they should have started way earlier. If you want to avoid this skin problem, you should alway keep in mind these recommendations:
Stay away from the sun: Try to alway walk by the shadier side of the street. Most people don’t realize the amount of sunlight to which they’re exposed everyday. It adds up over time, leaving you with wrinkles and dark spots.
Always use SPF: if you think you can’t avoid the sun, at least apply SPF 30 sunscreen everyday before you leave home.
