Are you unhappy with the shape or size of your ears? This is a very common insecurity that many people grow up with from childhood. As children some are teased throughout school and as adult ends up going through a lot of trouble to hide their ears. The good news is that there is a cosmetic surgery available just for you.
Ear Surgery Procedure
Ear surgery or otoplasty is an outpatient procedure that can change the size or shape of one or both ears for a more desired appearance. There are a variety of different surgeries and procedures offered at Juventus. Depending on the amount that needs correction or the desired outcome by the patient, each procedure will be a little bit different.
Ear pinning or ear reshaping surgery is often completed in only one to two hours. Pinning the ears can help them look less pronounced and exist closer to the skull. Reshaping the ears is often done when clients are unhappy with the size of their ear or its features. Ear reduction surgery is also an option for clients that want smaller ear lobes or cartilage.
Some patients only have ear surgery completed on one ear, as these parts of the body are not always identical. However, having both ears worked on is called bilateral ear surgery. This surgery is performed the same way, just taking more time to complete two ears instead of one.
Reconstructive ear surgery is the surgical procedure used to correct deformities or injuries. This non-invasive surgery is most often used to recreate a natural looking ear that has been negatively impacted by lacerations, torn piercings or burns. Reconstructive ear surgery is also used to correct Microtia. Microtia is a birth defect that causes an underdeveloped external ear. While this defect is rare, it does affect three babies out of every 8,000 to 10,000 live births.

This can all be discussed and arranged prior to the day of the procedure.
Q: Children and Ear Surgery
Ear surgery is most common for children between the ages for four and fourteen. Children under the age of 4 have ears that are still developing. However, if your child has a severe defect, they can be considered for ear surgery. No matter what the surgery is for, it is important that parents and children communicate effectively about the risks and rewards of this procedure. A consultation with one of our surgeons can also help children understand. Consultations also serve as a great way to determine whether or not your child is a viable candidate for ear surgery.
